You may have already heard? ...but there has been an unfortunate structural problem with the Middlewich branch of the Shropshire union canal... we are hoping that the Canal & River Trust will resolve this quickly, though it is likely to take months and not weeks to resolve. This does mean that access to Nantwich, Chester, Llangollen and the fully completed Four Counties Ring is prevented until they do.... unfortunately this is outside of our control. We are expecting the 2019 season to be uneffected.
However, the canal holiday world does not only involve these routes! ...there is still lots of adventure and expereince on our other amazing canals which you can still explore! ....Marple, Macclesfield Canal, Peak Forest Canal, Lymm and onward to Castlefield and the amazing Manchester Science & Industry Museum! ...then there’s the Trent & Mersey section of the Four Counties Ring! The Caldon Canal! ...these routes offer the same canal excitement, relaxation and adventure on our boats!! ..if you would like to give us a call for help planning your holiday on (+44) (0)1606 833668 please do so ...we will also be posting more on these routes in the very near future! ....we will keep you posted on the canal repair as well.... Please keep checking our Facebook page

Through rural Cheshire towards the town of Nantwich
Leaving Middlewich by way of an arm of the Shropshire Union Canal, the route has fine views over the valley of the River Weaver before making its way directly through an area full of Shropshire's 'black and white cows' to the main line of the canal. From Barbridge Junction you would cruise left, taking you to the 'black and white buildings' of Nantwich. The charming market town of Nantwich stands on the banks of the Shropshire Union Canal. The canal provides a pretty green corridor to go for a walk and spot the local wildlife. The town has a historic market hall and a number of black-and-white half-timbered buildings. It plays host to several exciting festivals, including the Jazz and Blues Festival, the Nantwich and South Cheshire Show, and the Nantwich Food and Drink Festival.
3 nights short break average cruising time per day:
Nantwich 6 hours
