Andersen Boats, Cheshire UK - Canal Boat Holidays and Narrowboat Hire - Canal Holiday Routes
CHOOSING YOUR HOLIDAY ROUTE
Based at the heart of the North West's Canal system, we can offer five classic boating routes, all feasible in one week, all even more enjoyable if you are lucky enough to have a fortnight or longer at your disposal.
The Llangollen Canal is the most popular cruising route in Britain. Totally rural, with the spectacular mountain scenery of Wales at its western end, it is the choice of most of our first time holidaymakers, closely followed by the relaxing voyage from Middlewich to Chester, a wonderful way to visit one of the most attractive and historic cities in the land.

If you have a penchant for circular trips (or 'rings' as they have become known on the canals) we can offer two of the best, the Four Counties Ring and the Cheshire Ring. The Four Counties Ring is a journey of contrasts between the wide open spaces of the Shropshire and Staffordshire borders and the fascinating industrial archaeology of the Potteries. The Cheshire Ring is a circumnavigation of the county of Cheshire, skirting the brooding edge of the Pennines and encountering the vibrant city of Manchester, with its Castlefield Urban Heritage Area and a list of visitor centres as wide as the broadbeam locks of the Rochdale Canal. Variations on these four main routes might have you making for Wigan, with its famous 'pier', or Froghall deep in the Staffordshire Moorlands, at the remote end of the little-known Caldon Canal; a connoisseur's route if ever there was one!
