All of our canal boats are pet friendly, and up to 2 dogs can come absolutely free. Enjoy the perfect dog-friendly narrowboat holiday from Middlewich.
All of our boats are thoroughly cleaned to the highest standards before each handover, we provide the standard that we expect... which is very high.
A choice of our canal holiday routes means that you have a huge amount of dog-walking routes to discover. Each day you can all have a new tow-path to explore, a new woodland in which to have an adventure and just amazing times in places you just did not know were there.
Travel along our waterways at a gentle pace and because our boats travel at only 4mph it’s not difficult to keep up if you and your dog feel like exploring whilst the boat is moving.

We understand how important it is to find a truly dog-friendly holiday. That is why up to 2 dogs can come absolutely FREE on all of our boats (maximum of 3 dogs per boat).
Top Tips for Dog Friendly Holidays
- Pack the essentials. Remember to take all your normal equipment – dog bed, leads and poop bags etc. The canal paths do have poop bins at the main stopping points. It’s a good idea to take a spare lead in case you lose one overboard!
- Bring a towel. Take a spare towel for the dog in case he accidentally takes a dip.
- Consider a life jacket. You may want to consider a dog life jacket. Jackets with handles on the top are especially good for hauling the dog back on board if they decide to jump in.
- Get them settled. Allow your pets to fully explore the narrowboat when you first arrive so he can get used to his new home. (Please keep pets off furniture and bedding).
- Watch out for wildlife. Be aware that the waterways are teeming with wildlife – young dogs may be tempted to jump and chase ducks, swans, and moorhens!
- Bring fresh water. Don’t let your dog drink the river or canal water. Ensure that you have clean drinking water available at all times.
- Keep them safe at locks. Put your dog on his lead when entering locks and mooring for their own safety.
